Exercise, or more accurately Movement, is the fourth pillar in the NICER system. I like to emphasize the word movement because many people associate exercise with something you suffer through in an attempt to get “healthy” or “skinny”. Exercise should be something you enjoy, and sometimes it takes trying lots of methods to find what you enjoy most. At different points in our lives, we will want and need different kinds of movement. Walking, cleaning house, gardening, playing sports, yoga, tai chi, home improvement, high-intensity interval training, weightlifting, and triathlon are all valid ways to keep moving. The important thing is to make sure we move. Our human bodies were made to move. Our need for exercise did not go away with the invention of the office job. In this section you will find activities I’ve discovered that highlight some different ways to stay moving.
